Eastern Washington Guided Steelhead Fly Fishing

The Fish of a Thousand Casts

Location of Streams:

In the past we've offerred Methow River wading trips, Wenatchee River float trips, Tucannan River wading trips and outings to the Klickitat River via drift boat or raft.  Of these options, our favorite place to guide you each fall is the Klickitat River, so for 2013 and beyon, this will be our focus.  The fishery is located near Goldendale Washington and we have a great recommendation for streamside lodging, so ask about that at booking.  We also hope to offer trips to the Grande Ronde River soon.

As a management strategy hatchery steelhead will be retained when legal to do so.

As a goal we want to introduce you to the best steelhead fishing in eastern Washington State.

Steelhead fishing leaves you awestruck, dreaming of the next take, fight and aerial display;...

As you can see, we really, really, really, really, really like the Klickitat River for steelhead!

*Keep in mind that in Washington we have a regulation that states that wild steelhead are not to be fully removed from the water, when it is not legal to retain the fish.  It's a regulation we agree with and it will protect wild steelhead.  We take every effort to keep those fish in the water for pictures and want to minimize handling, so that precious and often ESA listed resources swim away healthy!  In 2011 and beyond we're going to take it one step further and recommend that if someone wants a picture with a prized unmarked/wild steelhead, that we do not remove the fishes gill plate and ventral fin from the water.  That's our goal and we hope other guide services follow suit.  We're setting the example for fish care.

Steelhead Guide Rates

Full Day Trips (8-12 hours)                   $425 for 1 or 2 people

Booking Policy

A $100 deposit is required to secure your date.  A $100 cancellation fee will be accessed if a trip is cancelled without 24 notice.

What You Need to Bring

Clients need to secure a Washington State Fishing License, a Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead Fishing Endorsement and a catch record card.  I'd recommend bringing polarized sunglasses, waders, wading boots, a hat, sun screen, camera, layering for cool weather, rods, reels, flies (I have a ton of flies, but the steelies love seeing new material).  We'll likely fish nymphs under a strike indicator, but we'll have opportunities to swing flies too.  8, 9 or 10 weight fly rods work well for what we'll be fishing; an 8 weight is my preferred weapon.  We'll fish single hand fly rods for nymphing, but bring your spey, switch rod, or centerpin rod if you want.  If you prefer to fish steelhead with a spinning rod, that can be arranged too.

Meal Accommodations

Our full day floats will offer a boxed lunch, snacks and beverages.
