As you can see, we really, really,
really, really, really like the
Klickitat River for steelhead!
*Keep in mind that in Washington we have a
regulation that states that wild
steelhead are not to be fully removed from
the water, when it is not legal to retain
the fish. It's a regulation we agree
with and it will protect wild steelhead.
We take every effort to keep those fish in
the water for pictures and want to minimize
handling, so that precious and often ESA
listed resources swim away healthy! In
2011 and beyond we're going to take it one
step further and recommend
that if someone wants a picture with a
prized unmarked/wild steelhead, that we do
not remove the fishes gill plate and ventral fin
from the water.
That's our goal and we hope other guide
services follow suit. We're setting
the example for fish care.
